Fired for Blogging?

Can you imagine being fired from your job for blogging?  These people were!

I could, perhaps, see the point if the person were compromising the safety of another person or giving away corporate secrets, but for *ranting* about your boss?  Or for posing for a "seductive" photo in your uniform?

Sheesh, why weren't those firemen who posed *nude-ish* for a calendar (with some of their fire-related equipment) terminated?  Tell me, they weren't let go just because the money reaped from the calendar sales benefited a fire station, or is it just because they didn't talk about it on their blog?

I can only imagine that it's a matter of time before a homeschool parent can be held "accountable" for something said on a blog.  That will definitely be a sad day.

you make a good point Roxanne, and one I've pondered seriously since my blog caused family strife, I know what was I thinking, I had just given them the link then I said things they didn't like(actually dh said he felt they were fishing for something to take a stab at us about and when they saw stuff about them on our site they immediately took it the wrong way and blew it out of proportion to have a reason to say bad things back, its amazing how selective listening and reading can seem so defendable, I shoulda thought that one out a little better, this is what I think I will do though, my family blog will always be publicly presentable, someday I hope to make a secret blog though, no one will know who it really is, lol. I'll change all names and places to protect the innocent(lol that translates to protect my own ass really) then we'll be talking interesting stuff, ;) I feel our site is effectively not a therapeutic as it once was since the fam knows the link. Grrrrrrr

Debs, why don't you shut that one down and transfer your stuff (with a new site addy) or just make a new one for the "meatier" conversation? Keep the other for the idle chi-chat? I often feel like my blog is just "marking time", like I really don't put out there my feelings like some other people do, like Min does. I just feel like I need to protect myself a bit yet, atleast until my storm passes, kwim?
